Help Children and Young People who are Blind or Partially Sighted
Most of our activities take place at the weekend and we will provide you with the necessary training. As a volunteer you will be responsible for the children and young people. We have a range of different activities, from rock climbing to raft building and cooking to karaoke.
As a volunteer you will need to manage your group and make sure all the participants are enjoying themselves. From time to time you will need to encourage people to take part and try a fun new activity. At our youth weekends we help young people who are visually impaired prepare their own meals, therefore you will need to know how to cook.
When you become a volunteer you will be given a VICTA t-shirt and an information pack. We will also provide you with free meals and accommodation. We will also pay for your travel to and from the activity. As a volunteer you may be able to participate in some of the activities, these may include rock climbing, water rafting and abseiling. Every year we have two teams of cheerleaders that help us to support our amazing runners at the Virgin Money London Marathon. At this event we provide our volunteers with our VICTA cheerleaders outfit, including pom-pom’s and cheering sticks. It is your job to cheer our runners across the finish line. We will pay your travel costs to, from and around London. You will also have access to the post race reception at the Reform Club.
