Sorry, applications for our family weekends have now closed.

We are excited to announce applications are now open for our VICTA family weekends. We will again be hosting two Family Weekends, one in Spring (4 to 7 May 2018) and one in Summer (10 to 13 August 2018).

Our family weekends will be extra special this year as we visit two new venues. VICTA will have sole use of each venue. The Summer weekend is our biggest of the year and we will visit Condover Hall, JCA Adventure’s flagship activity centre set in the Shropshire countryside. The site centres around a grand, grade l listed Elizabethan manor and is home to an exciting range of on-site activities.

Condover HallThe site has all the facilities we need for a fantastic, action-packed few days. Sleeping accommodation consists of dormitory style units, with bunk beds, please note not all rooms at this venue offer en-suite bathrooms.

Our family weekends are a great opportunity to try new things, meet people and share experiences. We provide a range of amazing activities for you and your children, as well as the chance to attend workshops and talks. As usual, we will have our themed party night with a fancy dress competition and prizes up for grabs. Our theme for this weekend is ‘Medieval Tournament’, so sound the fanfares, take a step back in time and dress fit for a grand entrance!

Activities on offer at the centre include high ropes, archery, zip wire, tunnelling, canoeing and many more. The activities will be run by the JCA Adventure activity staff who ensure everyone has an amazing time. Children take part in the activities in groups arranged by age with the support of VICTA volunteers and the centre staff. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to bond with other children their own age who may have had similar experiences in life. While the children are off on their adventures, parents attend workshops and (not to be out-done by their daring children) also have the opportunity to try some of the activities themselves. Families then regroup to share their experiences of the day, enjoy mealtimes and take part in the evening activities together.

The minimum age for the activity groups is five years old. Younger siblings are welcome but please note the crèche is only available while parents are in workshops on the first day, after this they will be under your care (although the crèche room and its contents will be available for you to use). The provision of the creche will be subject to demand and volunteer levels.

If you would like to apply for your family to attend, please complete the online application form below. Please note this form covers both the May weekend and this August summer weekend, so you will need to indicate which you are applying for.

If you are offered a place on a family weekend, you will need to pay for 50% of your family’s place within seven days to secure it. The remaining balance will be due no later than six weeks before the activity. The contribution required is £50 per person (0 to 4 years are free) which is non-refundable. It covers your family’s accommodation, all organised activities and three warm meals per day. If your family are new to VICTA Family Weekends we are offering a special welcome price this year of £35 per person.

The cost to attend a VICTA family weekend has remained the same since our first family weekend 10 years ago. With the growing demands placed on the charity, we have increased the amount to allow us to continue to meet the needs of families. We do hope that you will agree this is still a small contribution towards what is a valuable weekend for all.

The actual cost to VICTA per person to attend a family weekend is approximately £200, so if you are in a position to pay more than the minimum required that would be greatly appreciated. More importantly, given the costs, it is really important that you inform us if you are unable to accept your place so that it can be offered to another family on the waiting list.

We do expect to be over-subscribed so please make sure you get your applications in before the closing date.

In addition to completing the online form, please also download and complete a parent consent form for each child attending. These can be emailed to
