This September a group of 10 thrill-seeking blind and partially sighted young people attended a VICTA youth day at Thorpe Park. This was another new venue for us this year and the 18 to 29 year olds hit the park running. We were delighted to have volunteers Nick, Luke and Anna along for the ride and they worked hard to make sure the young people enjoyed a fantastic day at the park.
At first, we experienced some difficulty queuing but after some initial hold-ups we were given priority arm bands which improved the day immensely. The group worked their way around the park before settling down for lunch. After lunch they continued to enjoy the rides. The water rides proved popular, ensuring that VICTA Chief Executive Tracie was soaked through for most of the day!
Most of rides at the park are targeted at the age group which attended and certainly not for the faint hearted – ‘Swarm’, ‘Nemesis’ and ‘Saw’ were reportedly firm favourites. It was a wonderful day full of screams and laughter, thanks to Anna for sending us these photos; they truly show how much fun was had by all.
