1 – 7 June 2015 is ‘Volunteers’ Week’ and to celebrate, everyone at VICTA would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who volunteer for us, you are amazing!
At VICTA we run a number of activities for children and young people who are blind and partially sighted: these activities have a hugely positive impact on the young people who attend them. They build confidence, friendships and hope for the future. These activities take manpower and we couldn’t make them happen without the tireless dedication of you, our volunteers.
It is important that our activities are a positive experience for our young people and we know how hard you all work to make sure this is the case. There to guide and support when needed but also quick to chat, have fun and provide encouragement, you are vital to the young people who attend.
Our activities are great fun and have seen volunteers balancing on high ropes, building rafts, negotiating caves and camping out at the Natural History Museum. We know they are also hard work – often up at the crack of dawn for activities with packed itineraries, you face all challenges head on, taking on great responsibility and tackling high emotions. You somehow cope with everything we throw at you and although we admit to often sending you home in a weary state, thankfully you keep coming back! Long may it last. And again, thank you.
