Apptastic VICTA Science Competition

Imagine! You are a technology designer who leads a team of people who design and build apps. Your team is excited about many of the recent technology advances that allow you to recognise people, objects and text in the world. What app will your team build for the world?

Create a 1-minute video to share your idea. Include:

  • Introduce Yourself (name, age, location)

  • Describe who your app will benefit

  • Give the name of your app and what it does. You can describe the app using words, or props, or show how it works.

There are three prize categories:

  • Most innovative idea

  • Best communicated idea

  • Most impactful idea

Terms of entry

  • The competition is open to children who are registered or are registrable blind or partially sighted aged between 10 and 17 years on Friday 26 June 2020
  • Entrants must be residents of the United Kingdom
  • The entries will be judged by representatives from Microsoft and City, University of London. The judges decision will be final
  • By entering the competition you agree to your child’s name and competition entry being used on the VICTA website and social media
  • The competition closes at 5pm on Friday 26 June 2020
  • The overall winner of each category will be awarded an experience day at the Microsoft Centre, Cambridge. Winners will be required to make their own way to the centre and VICTA will cover travel expenses up to a maximum of £50

  • Winner of each category – an experience at the Microsoft Centre in Cambridge

  • Runner up of each category – Microsoft bluetooth speaker

  • Third place in each category – Microsoft/VICTA goody bag

Competition Terms of Entry
