In October VICTA took a group of Harry Potter fans (some of them super-fans) to the Harry Potter Studio Tour. This activity was offered to our 18 – 29 year olds, who came unassisted and our 7 – 16 year olds, who came with one carer. The tour proved to be extremely popular with all the places filled within a matter of hours. We booked our tour to coincide with Halloween and the studios were hosting a special dark arts exhibition. It was a perfect place to spend this spooky date – surrounded by witches, wizards, goblins and all manner of magical creatures.
The studio provided our group with interactors who had an in-depth knowledge of the films and the studio. They have incredible insider knowledge of what went on behind the scenes during the filming of these hugely successful movies. It was sometimes hard to keep the group together and close to the interactors but the studio increased numbers and they were able to help our young people have a more involved experience.
Neither VICTA nor the studio had ever hosted anything like this before, and it was an exciting prospect. We were given priority at queues which helped beat the crowds and our group had the opportunity to touch and feel some of the props and artifacts while the interactor brought the studio to life.
Overall, it was a wonderful day for our young Harry Potter fans, and a perfect opportunity to make new friends and socialise over a shared experience.
