Ever wondered what makes a roller coaster go faster and slow down when it needs to? Our curious group of 10 to 13s got to find out for themselves in the most fun way possible – with LEGO!
To round off an action packed British Science Week, full of opportunities through the VICTA online Science Fair – we took part in an interactive workshop with the education team at LEGOLAND Windsor. James from the team knew more about LEGO than anyone we’d ever met, but the children who came along were big LEGO fans and gave him a run for his money! We might even see some new submissions to LEGO ideas for new sets soon!
The children who attended had a range of vision impairments and levels of sight, and were all able to engage in the hands-on session. It was great to see students supporting each other while programming their spinning rides. We all had a good laugh at some of the names given to the LEGO rides they designed, which were a little on the scary side!
We couldn’t learn about the science of rollercoasters without giving them a whirl ourselves. From the screams on the LEGO Mini Figure Speedway to the ninja moves and Character Meet and Greets at Ninjago, we had a fantastic time.
A big thank you to the team at LEGOLAND Windsor for making our visit so welcoming and engaging and to our team of talented mini builders for inspiring us all!
