With thanks to centre:mk who will be displaying your decorations over Christmas for all to enjoy!
Our annual Christmas decoration competition is open! It’s time to help VICTA decorate our very special trees at the centre:mk Christmas display.
Competition closing date: 20 November 2026
Every child who enters our Christmas decoration competition receives a little Christmas treat from VICTA and we have some amazing prizes up-for-grabs for the winners. Once again this year, we have a special category just for schools and organisations who support vision impaired young people, you can find out more in the entry details below.
All you have to do is make a home-made decoration that will bring your own little piece of magic. See if you can add a sensory element to the decoration, it could be a Christmassy scent, a tactile feel, or jingly bells.
The Snowman
The theme this year is beloved Christmas book ‘The Snowman’ by Raymond Briggs. As the display at centre:mk will be themed around The Snowman, we’d love to see some decorations designed to celebrate the theme.
In the book the story is told by pictures only but an interpreted story audio version written by Michael Morpurgo is available to enjoy. It may give you some inspiration!

The VICTA Book Club has just launched ‘Beyond the Book’ where book club members can find even more ways to celebrate reading and earn rewards as they go. The project is in collaboration with Audible and members will receive a six month Audible Premium membership to help them access new reads! We are really excited to be celebrating a classic book and hope you can find time to read, listen or watch the story. Beyond the Book is open to vision impaired children and young people aged 12 to 18 years. If your child is under 12 and would like to take part, you are very welcome to apply, priority may be given to the advertised age range due to demand.

Choose your own design
If you’d prefer to choose a theme of your choice then that’s fine too, we welcome creativity! You could even incorprate the VICTA rainbow or some accessible braille. Just see where your creativity can take you. Remember, your decoration doesn’t have to be expensive, you could make your own salt dough, use tin foil or last year’s Christmas cards.
If you’re following a primary curriculum, taking part also counts towards earning your VICTA Young Achievers Create badge!
