Don’t just go with the flow… paddle it!
Join VICTA and a group of young adults at Lee Valley White Water Centre in September for an activity day making waves. We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive and energetic volunteers who can provide support in and out of the water.
Taking advantage of Lee Valley’s Olympic facilities, you’ll have the opportunity to discover Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) on Lee Valley’s crystal-clear lake. No SUP experience necessary – turn up and test your balance skills. There’ll just be time to catch your breath before tackling Lee Valley’s White-Water rafting bucket list experience; a 300m Canoe Slalom course purpose built for the 2012 Olympics!
Guided by Lee Valley instructors, this is a perfect opportunity for those who haven’t tried white water rafting or SUP before, or for those who would like to perfect their skills in riding the waves.
Participants will be split into 2 small groups with one group trying out SUP, while the other takes part in white-water rafting. VICTA have hired exclusive use of a room to serve as a base for the day, and somewhere to come together over lunch-time.
Due to the nature of this activity, we ask that volunteers are water confident and must be able to swim. We ask that volunteers support with mobility and guiding while in and out of the water, encouragement and support while in the activity sessions and with social facilitation during the day and across the lunch break. Lee Valley has a weight restriction for their White-Water Rafting activities which is a maximum of 18 stone.
