Benjamin, age 11
Benji bought a box of dry ice and did a number of experiments with it! He made the ice glow with a UV torch and the ink from a highlighter pen. He also made a smoke machine out of a plastic bottle, dry ice and water, and he put out a flame with the carbon dioxide emitted from the dry ice.

Courtney, age 6
Courtney used tubs and makeshift ramps to create his own ‘hill’. He said, ‘it goes so fast going downhill!’ He had to position the ramp and the car so it could align and race down straight rather than off track.

Harley, age 11
Harley tried out making slime, creating music using test tubes, and looked into which material would be best for an astronaut’s visor!

Oscar
I got my Hot Wheels car and another car and found lots of different surfaces to test out what happens!
I found out the best surfaces were smooth and the cars moved quickly on them but the bumpy and rough surfaces were no good and the cars stopped very quickly. I tested stone, marble, iron, gravel, metal, grass and wood. The best surfaces for the cars to move were the smooth wooden ramp, the metal slide and the big iron anchor I found. The worst surfaces were the stones and grass – the cars fell over or didn’t move far at all.
