In December 2019 VICTA travelled to the historical city of Prague with a group of 18 to 29-year olds to explore the delights of the Czech Christmas Markets and rich history of the area.

While in Prague, we took part in several walking tours around different parts of the city, including the Mala Strana, Prague Castle, Old Town Square and Jewish Quarter. We also visited Prague Zoo meeting with zoo curators and discussing the world of conservation and how the John Muir Award helps protect the environment.

After the talks, we were given a guided audio tour of the Indonesian Jungle House within Prague Zoo and a tactile tour, feeling and identifying several samples and objects resembling different animals from around the world.

The group gained so much from the trip and were left with a real sense of what Prague was all about!

“Prague was a great all round experience. Prague has something for everyone – history, great architecture and museums, Christmas markets and different kinds of foods, and a chance to meet new people. It was great fun!” – Ewan Waker
