Thank you to everyone who entered our first VICTA Christmas card competition. All of your entries were amazing and it made the judging very difficult indeed.

Congratulations to our winner Poppy Woodhams-Beazeley, age 8 who designed the beautiful card below. We loved how much detail and hard work had gone into Poppy’s design, and the layered effect created by the collaging of different elements makes it seem so tactile and rich in Christmas personality! Poppy was inspired to create her design by the area she lives in and all the things she loves about it. Well done Poppy, we’re proud to have it as our Christmas card this year to help spread some joy far and wide.

We hope you enjoy Poppy’s card and all the designs entered below.

Eduard Husaru, age 8

The card has four triangular trees set onto the snowy scene, two with a green design and two in rainbow colours. Stuck on in stickers is the wording “Merry Christmas” and “Nadolig Llawen” in Welsh.

Luca Frye, age 3

Image description: “First, I stuck a stencil of a squirrel onto a card. Mummy helped me make sure it was straight. I then used an old toothbrush and watercolour to paint and spray (with my thumb) over the stencil. When my painting had dried, mummy helped me take the stencil off.” Luca has used blue and red paint on cream paper giving a lovely splattered effect around the stencilled out squirrel.

The tree and “Merry Christmas” message have been drawn in felt tip and the snow added using balls of scrunched up white paper. The inside of the card (image two) has Christmas bunting drawn in red and blue. On the back of the card (image three) there is a cheeky elf and a snowman wishing you a good new year.

Theo Oakley, age 8

Image description: “Theo created this Christmas tree in one of his braille lessons. He loves creating pictures in braille as a treat at the end of each braille lesson. He hopes to make all his own Christmas cards this year!”

Sienna Rose Wilson, age 2 (almost 3!)

Image description: “This card has a bright red background, three of Sienna Rose’s painted green handprints to make the shape of a Christmas tree in the middle. It has a painted brown trunk, with a grey plant pot for the tree to stand in, cut out of grey card. Sienna Rose sprinkled silver glitter all over the tree while the paint was still wet, so the glitter is in patches all over the tree so it looks very sparkly. Then she stuck a big, bright, yellow, sparkly star at the top of the tree and a big, pink, sparkly star just above the tree. There is a small, blue, sparkly square decoration glued onto the middle of the tree. Then to finish off Sienna Rose stuck down five smaller, sparkly stars to decorate the tree, the colours of these are pale pink, dark pink, orange, light blue and silver. It is a beautiful Christmas tree and Sienna Rose really enjoyed making it, and had lots of fun getting messy! We hope you like it and Merry Christmas!”

Scott Gardner, age 21

Image description: “The card is made of recycled paper (brown) and it is a thick, slightly textured card. On the top Scott brailled greetings: “Happy New Year!” and he used gold sticker with a Happy Christmas greeting to stick on the right side of the card. Below that, Scott used special circular paper cutter to cut a circle and glued on inside red circle card with printed robins (birds with red belly).

On the left side of the card Scott glued a shape of a robin that we cut out form recycled last year’s Christmas card. He decided to stick on robin’s head a sticker -red Christmas hat with a white fluffy pom-pom.”
