2025 has been an action-packed year for VICTA Sport. Starting with an England Athletics event at Leeds Beckett University in February and finishing with a VICTA Sport Young Achievers Day in Kent, we have been all over the country bringing more opportunities to get involved in sport for blind and partially sighted young people.
New for 2025 was our Sports Young Achievers Award – and no better place to launch this than at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, home of the Paralympic Games. Our Sports Young Achievers Days have seen families have a go at kayaking, blind tennis, blind cricket and more. Join us on a VICTA Sports Young Achievers Day next year to earn your Get Set, Game On and Super Me badges and the much-coveted VICTA Sport Young Achievers Award medal.
We also launched the VICTA Sport Leadership Camp in October half term. This was a five-day residential for a group of 14-17yr olds held at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford. They worked towards their Level 1 Qualification in Sports Leadership, learning about different leadership skills and styles while also taking part in practical work including planning their own leadership sessions to deliver. Well done to our first group of young sports leaders!

Finally, our Sports Family Weekend returned for its second year at PGL Caythorpe Court, Lincolnshire, at the end of July. VICTA Patron Abbie Robinson, 4x world champion para climber, spoke to families about her experience growing up with a vision impairment and competing in top-level sport. We were also fortunate to welcome Scarlett and Eliza Humphrey, Paris 2024 Paralympians, to come and speak to families and join in some of the sports fun too. Families were able to take part in a variety of different sports across the weekend, with sighted siblings and parents developing a greater understanding of what it is like to take part in sport and physical activity with a vision impairment.
We finished the weekend celebrating England’s Euro 2025 success on the big screens – a super weekend of sport!
