Due to the success of last year’s collaborations between VICTA and BucksVision, we were thrilled to kick off the summer with another Joint Family Day. This year was made even bigger and better, thanks to the addition of Sight Concern Bedfordshire, and all 3 organisations were excited for what the day would hold.

Thankfully, the weather was on our side, and the sun shone all day long. We had 21 families in attendance, with over 80 people in total, many of whom were new to VICTA. It was great to meet so many new people, see their children make friends and have fun, and give parents the opportunity to connect with others in a similar situation.

For the children, there were challenges galore, with rock climbing, zorbing and crate stack. Many of the children faced their fears and managed to complete activities they hadn’t previously attempted. For the parents, it was slightly more sedate – a cup of tea and delicious slice of cake in our Tesco marquee.

BucksVision organised a treasure hunt around the site with some fantastic prizes up for grabs. A tasty BBQ lunch provided by Caldecotte kept everyone going, and the bouncy castle and crèche ensured children of all ages had hours of fun and went home completely exhausted! Upon leaving, each child received an amazingly thoughtful goody bag, courtesy of Tesco.

The day was a huge success for all involved. The team at VICTA are thrilled to work with BucksVision and Sight Concern Bedfordshire, in order to pool our resources enabling us to reach even more families. We set out to provide a ‘Family Fun Day’, and from the smiles on everyone’s faces, I think it’s safe to say we achieved that!

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the Tesco staff for their help and hard work on the day, and to all the families for joining with us and helping this activity to be such a success!
