VICTA’s second activity break of 2018 took us away on an energetic weekend to Thetford. More specifically, Thorpe Woodlands Activity Centre, for our second driving break for the 18-29 group. With lots of new faces (including a new VICTA staff member), we all arrived ready to tackle the challenging weekend ahead.

Arriving around lunchtime, an afternoon of planned team challenges promoting trust and cooperation within the group, ensured that everyone got to know each other. After dinner, we ventured outside where a campfire was ready for us to enjoy marshmallows and ‘smores’, and some light chat before heading to bed.

The following day our group split into two and while one group went climbing, the other went out to have a go at 4×4 off-road driving. After doing that for the morning, everyone returned for a hearty lunch and plenty of cups of tea. After lunch our group switched activities, meaning everyone had a go at the driving, ensuring hours of fun!

After an incredible day of driving, climbing, and power-fan fun, we then settled down in the evening for the returning VICTA Quiz! Trading adventure for general knowledge, this year proved to be the closest quiz result, with the winning team beating second place by just one point!
Our third day featured a return to the River Avon for a nice, relaxed canoeing session in the morning before cycling around Shadwell Forest and zip lining between the trees. After this, we were treated that evening to a full roast dinner with all the trimmings.

Sadly, as with any VICTA activity we all had to head home. However, everyone went home having made new memories and new friends.
A huge thank you goes out to our volunteers, who made the weekend a good mix of entertainment and excitement. In addition, thanks must go to our hosts at Thorpe Woodlands for providing us with a brilliant setting for yet another excellent VICTA youth weekend.
